Our committees, working groups and cross-sectoral cooperations
The German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation acts as a networking & communication platform for stakeholders from politics, business and science. Within the framework of the working groups, a unique, cross-sectoral exchange takes place in a trusting environment and at eye level.
Round Table Maritime Safety Partnership
The German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation has been hosting the Maritime Safety Partnership Roundtable every six months since 2015. With 60 different organisations from the offshore industry, consisting of authorities, ministries, safety service providers, university hospitals, operators and other stakeholders, this event discusses concerns in the areas of emergency rescue and occupational health and safety.
Offshore grid connection working group
The Offshore Grid Connection Working Group was established in 2016 and usually meets three times a year. The purpose of the working group is to discuss current topics relating to offshore grid connections with experts and to realise potential for accelerating the implementation of grid connections. The table is staffed with current representatives of transmission system operators, ministries, authorities, operators, manufacturers and consulting companies.
Our scientific community: The Scientific Advisory Board in focus
Our Scientific Advisory Board is one of the centerpieces of our commitment to offshore wind. Twice a year, members of this prestigious body meet in accordance with our statutes to discuss the latest developments in this exciting field, identify emerging trends and plan future activities.
Focus on our topics
Our experts on the Scientific Advisory Board specialize in various topics related to offshore wind energy. These include:
- Supporting structures and foundations: Here, not only the technology but also the production technology is intensively discussed.
- Plant technology: Including monitoring and the continuous optimisation of offshore wind turbines.
- Logistics: Including aspects of dismantling, environmentally friendly disposal and materials management.
- Ecology: We are committed to protecting the environment and preserving the ecosystem in offshore wind projects.
- Power grids and storage: The integration of offshore wind energy into the power grid and the development of storage technologies are key topics.
- Operation of offshore wind turbines: Here, not only the ongoing operation but also repairs and maintenance strategies are highlighted.
- International developments: We closely follow global trends and developments in the offshore wind energy industry.
Thinking outside the box: current discussions
Our Scientific Advisory Board is not limited to these topics. We are always open to current developments that influence the industry. For example, in our first meeting in 2023, we intensively discussed the topic of a shortage of skilled workers and the recruitment of young talents.
Strong together: growing membership
We are proud that our Scientific Advisory Board consists of experts from almost all fields of research. The steadily growing number of members shows the growing interest in offshore wind energy and our common determination to actively shape the future of this emerging industry.
Our Scientific Advisory Board is a key driver of innovation and progress in offshore wind and we are grateful for the expertise and commitment of our members. We are looking forward to work with them to shape the future of this exciting industry.
